Chair4Life Engagement Event

Closing date:
31 October 2012

In 2009/10 the NIC responded to clear statements of clinical need from parents, carers, users and health professionals for a wheelchair that promoted user independence and was easily adaptable for a growing child, and commissioned the development of a specification for a Paediatric wheelchair design solution. This collaborative work has now been completed and resulted in the development of a detailed design specification for a modular wheelchair that would accommodate a wheelchair user from the age of 3 to 25 years and beyond.   To support this work the NIC would like to invite participants to the Chair4Life Engagement Day on Friday 26h October 2012. 1000-1600 hrs at the NHS National Innovation Centre, i-House, University of Warwick Science Park, Millburn Hill Road, Coventry, CV4 7HS.

The purpose of the day will be to bring together all the key stakeholders in the use, design, development and commissioning of wheelchairs in England. The day will include presentations from policy leaders in wheelchair services, procurement (including Any Qualified Provider), users and designers. A key objective of the day will be to provide input into the design and development of an innovative wheelchair based on extensive research into the needs and requests of users, which, we believe will play a key role in the transformation of current wheelchair services across the NHS.
